Los Angeles: Where to eat!

LA is an incredible place to discover food, snacks, and plenty of great restaurants. Eat yourself into oblivion, and walk it off on the amazing hikes through LA outlined in my LA What to see blog post.
LA constantly has new restaurants and cafes opening but here are my favourites that I visited on my trips to LA.Snapchat-1649201592425724021.jpg

GUISADOS (Downtown)- Get the incredible Taco Sampler plate here. My gosh it is amazing. 6 different tacos so you get to try a variety of these amazing things! They make everything on site, including the fresh corn tacos. There is plenty of tacos around LA and everyone has their favourite Taco truck but this little restaurant brings a line every night and is worth it.
Prices are reasonable too – tacos run $2.75 to $3.00 and the 6 taco sampler plate is just $6. The Steak Picado and Tinga de Pollo were my favourites.

IN-N-OUT BURGER: Whilst a fast food joint, this is a bloody good one. And one that is known around california for its qaulity fresh burgers made on the spot. The hamburger and fresh chips are great, but what the best menu items are include the animal fries and protein burger that are on IN-N-OUTS secret menu. The animal fries  are topped with cheese, spread, and grilled onions.  Get your burger as a lettuce wrap by asking for it protein style. Here is a link to the secret menu: http://aht.seriouseats.com/archives/2011/03/the-in-n-out-survival-guide-we-ate-every-single-item-on-the-secret-menu-slideshow.html

Snapchat-3175778286066393942.jpgCALIFORNIA DONUTS (Korea town) – This is a must-stop whilst you are in LA. Located in Koreatown at 3540 W 3rd Street this is my go to spot for a snack. The donuts here are well known around LA for being the tastiest and craziest in LA. There are some normal flavours like the fruity pebbles one that I got, but there are a few crazies like the Panda, and the chocolate bacon!

GRAND CENTRAL MARKET (Downtown): this spot is an incredible spot to get pretty much any cuisine you like, the market has a variety of options below are my favourites.
EGGSLUT: People wait in line for an hour for the amazing bacon, egg and cheese sandwich. And it is well worth the wait.  The slut also is incredible and consists of coddled egg on top of a potato purée, poached in a glass jar. This joint is amazing, quirky and good to get in early to.
STICKY RICE: This Thai restaurant is kicking all the right goals. It tastes authentic with fresh ingredients key. The Pad Thai is incredible and the the daily curry packs a punch too!
RAMEN HOOD: this place looked incredible, whilst I didn’t get to eat there this is a vegan ramen joint that I have heard great reviews of!

THE BUTCHERS DAUGHTER: This is a great vegetarian cafe in Venice that is full of life. A great spot to stop for brunch or a great coffee, make sure you get a bite to eat whilst you are there. They are known for their juices so make sure you grab one and try the Acia bowl whilst you are at it. The smashed avo and the burger also come with recommendations.

Snapchat-8740494696645890581.jpgDIDDY RIESES (Westwood) – This place is famed for their ice-cream sandwiches. and OMG they were incredible. The cookies were warm and soft, the ice-cream creamy and packed full of flavour. You can pick your cookie and ice-cream giving you plenty to pick from. The choc-chip cookie with cookie and cream ice-cream was amazing, enough to fill me up for dinner too!
I also grabbed 6 cookies to take home, and every single one was a great little snack. If the line looks long, it gets through very quickly, so jump in and eat up!

HOOTERS (Hollywood)- When in America you have to eat at one token restaurant and that one here is Hooters. I was pleasantly surprised, the wings we got were of course amazing, and I soon realised they are famous. The fish taco and also the curly fries we got were incredible. A great spot to get a bite to eat, a cocktail and watch people across the road at the Chinese Theater.newport-coffee-company.jpg

NEWPORT COFFEE COMPANY (Newport Beach)- This is an amazing spot along the coast that is great for a chai latte, coffee or a great ice-cream. I loved having a quality chai here, reading my book and watching the waves crash at the beach across the room.

HOWLIN RAYS (Chinatown) – Best Fried Chicken in LA. That is about all that needs to be said!
